OVERVIEW
Privately owned Tour Company servicing clientele around the World. Extremely diversified Product Lines, to include Escorted and non-Escorted Programs. Company, now in its 35+ year of business brings together a professional group of players while offering family style leadership.
The individual in this position will oversee all areas of the organization and play an important role in running the day-to-day operations of “PARENT COMPANY”, and its affiliated Companies. The COO will have primary function of identification and presentation to the CEO/OWNER the best long-term direction for the companies. The COO will remain apprised of the progress of major projects, and plays particular attention to any developing problems and participates in major problem resolution. Responsible to ensure all departments of the company meet their profitability goals to include implementation of best practices, and new systems and procedures, while achieving the highest level of customer service at all times.
REPORTING
Reports directly to CEO/OWNER. Will be a Member of the Executive Committee and a Company Officer.
ADMINISTRATIVE
- Develops and presents to the CEO/OWNER, matters requiring their decisions.
- Along with the CFO, develops and approves the annual budget for all the companies.
- Recommends annual program goals to the CEO/OWNER for the companies. Ensures that ongoing Program Evaluation System is in place related to such goals and that reports of progress are provided, on a regular basis to the CEO/OWNER of the companies.
- Develops, implements, and monitors policies and procedures appropriate to the day-to-day operation of the Company and sees that these are readily available as necessary.
- Monitors performance of direct reports. Provides prompt and objective coaching and counseling. Conducts reviews of direct reports and approves performance appraisals initiated by direct reports.
- Assures that a positive employee environment is maintained. Ensures that the company’s management principles, policies, and programs are consistently practiced.
TECHNOLOGY AND FINANCE
- Oversee IT division through the supervision of the IT Director.
- Co-manage the Finance and Accounting division with CEO/OWNER and supervision of the CFO.
- Compares performance with operating plans and standards. Provides reports and interprets the results of operations to all levels of management.
- Provides input and direction on forecasts of short-range and long-range cash requirements and obligations, as a basis for maintaining adequate funds.
- Approves cash disbursements for payment of corporate and divisional expenditures in accordance with disbursement and policies.
- Ensures optimum performance of the function. Recommends and implements techniques to improve productivity, technology, increase efficiencies, cut costs, take advantage of opportunities, and maintain state-of-the-art practices.
- Keeps abreast of current technology trends and practices and assumes other special activities and responsibilities from time to time as directed.
- Directs the design, development of systems, programs, and systems software to meet management’s information needs.
- Approves IT expense budget within budgetary guidelines to contribute to cost-effective operation of the corporation.
- Maintains knowledge of developments in the area of systems and hardware and incorporates new developments into future systems of the corporation.
- Together with the CEO/OWNER coordinates and approves adequate plan for control of monetary operations. Such a plan provides profit planning, sales forecasts, expense budgets, accounts receivable, cost standards and saving opportunities, and capital investing, together with the necessary controls and procedures to effectuate the plan.
SALES /MARKETING AND OPERATIONS
- Oversee the Tour Operations business, and more specifically: Client Services, Operations, Human Resources and Marketing Division through the supervision of six (6) Directors: Tour Operations, Group Sales, Marketing, Human Resources, Operations, and Client Services.
- Manage and expand inside and outside sales force, call center, and operations area.
- Develop and implement Business Plans to Manage and expand the group operations and “TOUR OPERATOR” businesses.
- Develop and introduce training and selling techniques to the reservation staff as well as research and check new channels of distribution.
- Oversee the Marketing/ Sales and Operations division and develop short and long-term sales goals.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
- Executive in the Travel Industry with 15 to 20 years of experience
- Strong exposure to travel operations and management of call centers within the travel industry.
- Strong financial management background, with experience in managing the P&L of a small stand-alone company, or large business unit.
- Experience in managing an IT organization or unit where systems infrastructure, and e-commerce activities have been a critical element in the operation of the business.
- Effective implementation, organization and communication skills
- Experience in implementing IT systems that support the broad needs of complex businesses.
- Superior PC skills with the ability to learn new software quickly.
- Working knowledge of manual and automated accounting systems, well-developed financial analysis capabilities, and demonstrated ability to oversee company finances.
- Sound Accounting and financial management skills.

EDUCATION
The preferred candidate will hold a Bachelor's Degree (BA or BS) from a four year College or University; or 10 to 15 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent of education and experience in the travel industry business.

• Eight (8) hours or more a day of sitting; walking; standing; bending; answering the telephone; entering data into the computer; retrieving data from the computer or analyzing data from reports.
• This position may require overnight travel up to 30% (including travel by car and by airplane).
• Must have a valid driver's license and willingness to fly on an airplane.
