OVERVIEW

 

A privately owned Tour Conglomerate servicing the entire globe. Product line encompasses all facets of the travel business, including  Tour Operations, Travel Agency, VIP Travel Club and much more. Company, now in its 40+ year of business brings together a professional and unique group of players.

 

THE ROLE

 

This position takes a lead role in the marketing department in planning and participating in all marketing related activities. This includes taking over all responsibility for direct mail marketing efforts including planning, implementation, analysis and reporting. Database Management knowledge is of key importance.

-Participates in Senior Management strategy meetings to develop ideas of long-range planning wholesale ventures and specific details.

-Develop and review project proposals to determine most appropriate procedures, and prepare budget projections as they relate to key marketing issues.

-Direct internal personnel which includes the marketing department; graphic designers; artists; and other support personnel involved in Direct Mail and Direct Marketing systems & procedures, to include Rich Database.

-Work with our IT department in collecting and analyzing all data to form the basis for intelligent decisions with regard to mail planning.

-Maintains close liaison with external sources/consultants on modeling and improving our data structure. To make sure concepts and goals of the business are achieved in accordance with the company vision and according to schedule.

-Develops business plans, sales strategies, action plans for identified targets of opportunity that clearly define objective, goals, win strategies, schedules and action assignments.

-Work with the COO in budgeting and planning for expenditures and establish future fiscal goals for this segment of the business.

 

COMMUNICATIONS

 

-Foster clear and comprehensive communication between this and other company departments and between all the relevant personnel. Communicate clearly and effectively with other personnel in the office with whom this position will be working on a regular basis.
-Maintain clear communication with the field staff department in order to provide frequent guidance on products to promote in the field.

 

STANDARDS & PRODUCTIVITY


-Work with the COO in establishing achievable goals with regard return on investment and productivity of lists and efforts.
-Work together to identify always more productive ways to reach out to audience, build new audiences and further enhance the brand image.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • The candidate ultimately hired for this position must have a broad background and experience with Direct Mail and Direct Marketing. Also must be extremely knowledgeable about Database Management and how to make it a most effective tool.  Experience in the travel / hospitality business is desirable but not mandatory.
  • Must have highly developed interpersonal skills and an analytical mind along with superior written and oral communication skills and an ability to communicate clearly and persuasively with managers and staff. He/she must be a “Team Player”. Problem-solving skills, common sense and strong detail orientation are critical. Computer word processing and spreadsheet analysis knowledge is required. Other critical qualities include self-confidence, motivation, decisiveness, flexibility, proven leadership ability, creativity and sound business judgment. Intelligence, integrity, fair-mindedness and a persuasive, congenial personality are also requisite qualities.

EDUCATION


The preferred candidate will hold a Bachelor's Degree (BA or BS) from a four year college or university; or 7 to 10+ years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent of education and experience experience in the business specifically responsible for major direct marketing efforts.

 

EXPERIENCE PREFERRED


• East coast residents (east coast experience and mentality)
• Working in a similar position within the travel/hospitality or related industries.
• Strong Direct Mail/Direct Marketing skills along with IT and with general knowledge of  sales, finance, administration, and human resources..
• Business acumen (business knowledge, competitor awareness, organization strategies)

• Eight (8) hours or more a day of sitting; walking; standing; bending; answering the telephone; entering data into the computer; retrieving data from the computer or analyzing data from reports.
• This position may require overnight travel up to 30% (including travel by car and by airplane).
• Must have a valid driver's license and willingness to fly on an airplane.
